Seltek Consultants was established in 1985 and the partners Guy Buncombe and Rod Lock have been involved in recruitment since the 1970s. Since our inception Seltek has specialised in technical sales and marketing recruitment. Labtek Consultants was formed in 2001 as a separate division of Seltek to enable us to provide a more complete recruitment service to our customers in the scientific markets.

Although advertising has its place, our clients are telling us that for those positions where specific skills and experience are required, advertisements can be expensive, time consuming and ineffective. And the reasons are clear. Most of the applicants replying to your advertisement will be unemployed, unqualified or unhappy in their work. Committed high calibre individuals are too busy producing results to be reading the situations vacant columns in newspapers or magazines. However, if approached in the proper manner by a professional recruiter, these people will seriously consider career moves.

Three Levels of Seltek Service
Executive Research: For difficult-to-fill positions, or positions where absolute discretion is required, or when an exact skill-set must be found, then retained search is the method of choice. Only by approaching recruitment in a focused and dedicated manner, can one discover not just the best of the people who are currently available in the job-market, but the best person in the relevant field altogether.
Advertised Selection: If you have several positions to fill simultaneously, or if you are looking for people in several geographic locations, then we recommend advertising. We are happy to handle the entire project and present you with the final shortlist, or to work hand-in-glove with you at every stage, whichever approach suits you best. In these cases we work on a retained basis, but we reduce our standard fees and charge in three trenches – one third upon acceptance of the assignment, one third upon interview and the final third upon offer / acceptance. Advertising costs are borne by the client, but we are happy to pass on the discounts enjoyed by recruitment companies.
Database Search: Our database is not a list of hopeful applicants who have sent in uninvited CV’s. The vast majority have been fully interviewed and assessed, and in most cases reference checked. As described above they have been sourced from referrals, recommendation or previous advertising campaigns. Many of these successful individuals do not need to move, but have made clear to us the type of career opportunities for which they would move. With over 50,000 records searched in seconds we can identify candidates with a variety of industry experience.
